Among very few regions of Himalayas located far away from tourist trails, one of most beautiful is region of Mustang in western Nepal. Only a few foreigners have reached Tholung valley so far, where the king of Mustang - Lo Manthang - lives in his castle. From Kathmandu we travel to Pokhara, second biggest city in Nepal located at Phewa Tal lake. In Pokhara we will spend one day waiting for a flight to Jomson, overlooking Kali Gandaki valley, where our expedition will start. We will climb up in order to get to northern part of the city, offering breathtaking views of Annapurna. Further on the trail leads to the southern border of Tibetan plateau heading to direction of Mustang. All difficulties of crossing the passes (the highest Nyj La Pass, 3990 m) are rewarded by wonderful views. Last ascent leads to the height of 3850 m. It is the perfect viewpoint of Tholung valley and Lo-Manthang city surrounded by the walls. We will have three days to explore this unique city, with number of monasteries and palaces or take a pony trip to visit the King, exceptional person from different world. On our return we will use different trail to Jomsom and fly back to Kathmandu. All that makes TK2 a unique and unforgettable expedition. |
